Artist Signings
I went to an artist signing/ meet n greet recently. Entrance to this meet n greet was contingent upon people buying the new CD online WITH their ticket to the event purchased through Ticketmaster. I thought this was a great way to make sure that everyone attending bought a CD... which makes sure to drive up album sales. Has anyone else been to a similar type meet-n-greet?

I have been to many of those meet and greets, and personally I do not like them. I agree that it is a great way to make sure that everyone buys the artists product, but every time I have been to one of these I already own the product, or many products from that artist. Driving up album sales is, in my opinion, only one aspect of the meet and greet, but it's also about connecting the artists with their true fans... Personally, i'd rather have a conversation with the artists, really connecting with them, making me a fan for life - and a fan for life will go out and buy any product related to that artist no matter what. While shaking hands and brief interaction is great, it is only one way to run a meet and greet, because once you've been to a meet and greet when an artist stays 3 hours after the gig in order to not only sign your CD but get to know you as a fan and a person, that will stick with you for life, which means a lot more than just automatic CD sales...
