Christmas Music
I used to be ecstatic when I started to hear Christmas music, knowing well that the music precluded the presents. However, somewhere along the way my attitude changed and now I can't think of anything worse (aside from maybe a Celine Dion marathon) than turning on my radio in the days leading up to December 25th, listening with fear as I wait for yet another version of Frosty the Snowman to overtake my car.
So why is that? I suspect these might be a few of my reasons...
- Pop divas turning into holiday divas to add 24 syllables to the word "Night" or "Holy" and extending the length of any song by at least double.
- The only people who make "new" Christmas music are comedians, or stuck in the 80s.
- Christmas is only 1 day.
- Everyone seems to be in "The Holiday Spirit" around Christmas, turning jerks into phoney maronies. I feel Christmas music is, in part, responsible for this false sense of kindness, and I feel as though it would make more sense if these characters continued being jerks right on through the holidays!
Or maybe I am just bitter because I can't reach ANY of the notes in Silent Night?
Happy Holidays Everyone!

P.S. If you purchase one holiday tune, make it Regina Spektor's My Dear Aqquantaince (A Happy New Year)

If you lived in my house while growing up you would go crazy. We had Christmas music playing all day starting after Thanksgiving. My mom was one of those people that just loves the holidays too much where she has to milk everything it's worth while she can.
As for my suggestion on Christmas music... try out Sufjan Stevens Songs For Christmas album. A very good album.

The one Christmas Album that I wanted to get this year was Relient K "Let it Snow Baby... Let it Reindeer" I never got around to picking it up.
I really cannot stand listening to the radio when they play Christmas music, but when you find a couple of albums that you really enjoy, it makes that time of year feel just a bit more special.

I have two words: Jingle Cats.
How a litter of kittens got a record deal baffles me.

A Dipset Xmas was a great album:

and I am pretty sure that A Dipset Kwanzaa would be pretty good as well:

(I am not sure if the Kwanzaa album is real or not. The Kwanzaa album might be a joke...hehe. but I do own the A DIPSET XMAS album. BALLIN')
